Bundaberg is the southernmost access point to The Great Barrier Reef and is proud of it's gardens and parks. It is more famous for it's amber spirit Bundaberg Rum and the distillery provides a popular tourist attraction. The region also boasts the Mon Repos Conservation Park, the most accessible mainland loggerhead turtle rookery. The towns most famous resident Bert Hinkler ( Australian aviation pioneer ) is also celebrated with a museum which stands in the towns Botanical Gardens.
